Hey,I'm Bud.
I'm thrilled to be applying for Mercury's Senior Content Marketer role.1 I've spent the last ten-plus years turning complex business and finance topics into content and copy people trust. I'd like to do that for Mercury.
Let's grab some tea
Tea first —2 then the work and a few people who can vouch for it.
-
01 · HeatThere’s always a way in.
My first marketing job came from a strange little trade. Five Super Nintendo games for a five-minute interview with GaryVee.3 I learned early that the non-obvious path is often the one worth trying.
At Mercury, I’d bring that same instinct to creating useful content, spotting stories worth telling, and finding better ways to reach people making important decisions about their work and money.
-
02 · MeasureGood content, like good tea, needs the right conditions.
At CXL, I managed the freelancer relationships, publishing calendar, editing, and quality bar that kept the content engine moving. At MoonPay, I was one of the first marketing hires and helped lay the foundation for content.
I'm well equipped to help Mercury strengthen the day-to-day operations behind its content and build systems that scale the work without losing what makes it worth consuming.

03 · PourEvery reader needs a different pour.
The best content rarely serves just one audience. For Schwab Crypto™ and thinkorswim, I write for the investor skimming on a phone and the legal team reading line by line. The same content has to work for both.
Mercury’s readers start in different places, want different things, and have different experiences with money. I’d meet them where they are and keep raising their expectations.
-
04 · SavorThis feels like my kind of place.
The tea ritual says something small but meaningful about Mercury's culture. The work matters, and so do the people making it. Mercury is at an incredibly exciting stage, especially as it works to become a bank. This is exactly the kind of team I want to join, and my kettle is already on.

What people say
Nice things nice people have said about me.
I've worked with Bud for four years, and he's been instrumental in growing my AI newsletter, The Future Blueprint, and in marketing The Fintech Blueprint, my newsletter and podcast decoding the technology reshaping financial services. What consistently impresses me is his rare instinct for finding better ways to reach an audience, and how he acts on it before anyone asks.
During my time as Head of Growth at CXL, I had the opportunity to manage Bud and was consistently impressed by how quickly he grew and continued to raise the bar for CXL’s content. In particular, he did an exceptional job managing CXL’s roster of contributors and ensuring their work met the company’s exceptionally high standards.
I’ve had the good fortune of working with Bud at both CXL and Third Rail Creative. When we needed a senior fintech writer at 3RC, I recommended him because I already knew I could trust his work. Bud brings real care to important projects, and I was glad to have the chance to work with him again.
Working with Bud is easy. His copy is consistent, he's always pushing to use AI to work smarter, and he has a real feel for what Schwab needs. Best of all, he makes the whole team look good.
Bud was an invaluable mentor to me during our time together at MoonPay. He struck the perfect balance between constructive feedback and pushing me to do my best work. I still carry the many lessons he taught me about writing and content marketing into my current role.
Bud demonstrated not only his passion for producing high-quality content, but also the ability to think strategically about what separates good from meh.
Bud was my go-to when I needed high-quality B2B content quickly. It's refreshing to work with someone who clearly lives and breathes the content space.
Bud produced high-quality, long-form case studies. He understood our audience, incorporated our core messaging, and perfectly captured our brand. His work helped drive SEO and new business revenue.
